IWD Swindon Event Speaker: Kelly Morgan
Kelly is an ex-England netball player, Commonwealth bronze medallist and British record holder in the javelin and most recently became a professional boxer reaching the world ranking of No.2, becoming the WBC’s Silver Middleweight World Champion. Outside of sport Kelly’s dream was to follow her father’s footsteps into the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC). After joining the Army in 2001 Kelly transferred into the RAPTC in 2006 completing operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Having left the Army Kelly now works in Wiltshire’s schools for SkillForce UK, delivering the Prince William Awards, daring tomorrow’s society to become their best selves.
What is the topic you are planning to address in your contribution?
My talk will be based around my story in sport and the military. Irrespective of many challenges nobody told me I couldn’t…and so I did.
Why did you agree to participate in our IWD event?
I believe IWD is a fantastic platform from which social awareness can grow. I am very excited to be a part of this event.
